Hushd AVERA MAS & SleepCare App

Hushd Avera

About

The Hushd Avera is an easy-to-use temporary mandibular advancement splint (MAS) designed to support patients with snoring or mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).

MAS devices work by gently repositioning the lower jaw forward during sleep, reducing airway collapse and improving airflow — making them a clinically supported alternative to CPAP therapy.

The Hushd Avera is a boil-and-bite, fully adjustable oral appliance that allows patients to trial MAS therapy before committing to a custom-fitted device. Its slimline, lower-profile design improves patient comfort and compliance while still delivering effective results.

The device includes two interchangeable lower splints, enabling clinicians or patients to titrate jaw positioning for optimal airway patency.

Please note: previous models (Hushd MAS and Hushd Mini) are no longer available from BMedical. The Avera replaces both models as a single, universal option suitable for a broad range of users.

FAQs

Warranty is one month but the MAS device is expected to last three months.

A MAS device advances the bottom jaw forward to open the airway and tighten the soft tissue, allowing for improved airflow.

A permanent MAS device can be quite expensive (between $1500 and $2500). A temporary MAS gives patients an opportunity to trial a MAS device and determine if they can adjust to having something in their mouth before committing to a permanent MAS device.

  • Its small profile means it will be similar to a permanent device. Permanent devices are significantly smaller than temporary devices and thus more comfortable.
  • The Sleep Care App helps patients get set up with the product, tracks their progress and will connect them to a local sleep dentist at the end of the trial
  • The device is adjustable, ‘titratable’, so patients can protrude the bottom jaw forward more to resolve residual snoring or apnoea
  • Supported by a network of Local Sleep Dentists for troubleshooting and next steps
  • Sleep Clinics get a patient support credit on their BMedical account when a patient transitions on to the permanent device through the APP.

Yes, the user needs to have most of their own teeth (not dentures) to be successful with the Hushd MAS.

This is a boil and bite device meaning patients will soak the device in hot/boiling water and bite to customise the fit.

Patients can watch the video within the app for instruction on how to set up the device.

The patient companion app is called SleepCare and is available on both Apple and Google Play

  • If all is going well, patients should consider transitioning to a permanent device between 14-45 days of trialing the temporary device.
  • The App will prompt patients through email and push notifications to consider transitioning, but they can do this at any point through the App by clicking the right hand menu and selecting what’s next – request an appointment and selecting a dentist that is local to them.
