FAQs

The BMC RV Series is a versatile 2-in-1 respiratory device that provides both non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy. It is designed for clinical use in managing a range of respiratory conditions in both acute and subacute settings.

The RV Series supports a wide range of NIV modes including:

  • CPAP

  • Auto CPAP

  • S/T (Spontaneous/Timed)

  • T (Timed)

  • PCV (Pressure Control Ventilation)

  • SVAPS (Spontaneous Ventilation with Assisted Pressure Support)

It also supports AutoFlow and SmartFlow modes when used in HFNC mode.

  • AutoFlow (Automatic High Flow): Automatically adjusts flow based on the patient’s inspiratory effort for comfort and safety.

  • SmartFlow (Bi-level High Flow): Delivers a higher flow on inspiration and lower flow on expiration to improve comfort and conserve oxygen.

Yes. The device can support paediatric patients when configured with appropriate circuits and settings. It is important to select suitable parameters based on patient weight, condition, and clinical judgment.

The device should not be used in patients who are:

  • Unable to maintain spontaneous respiration (in unsupported modes)

  • Experiencing untreated pneumothorax

  • Hemodynamically unstable

  • Suffering from facial trauma that interferes with mask use

Consult the clinical manual for a full list of contraindications and precautions.

Oxygen can be delivered via high-pressure or low-pressure input using standard hospital oxygen supplies. The device also supports oxygen concentration monitoring and alarm settings to ensure appropriate delivery and safety.

Yes. The RV Series features an 8-inch touchscreen, detailed waveform display, and supports Rx-Monitoring for wireless data transfer and centralised monitoring of up to 64 beds in supported environments.

The RV Series does not have an internal battery for portable use. It must be connected to a mains power source to operate. External UPS (uninterruptible power supply) backup is recommended for critical care environments where power continuity is essential.

The device may be eligible under NDIS or DVA funding programs where prescribed. Contact our team for assistance with supporting documentation and quotation to submit with funding requests.
