Blue Light Therapy

AYO is based on almost 30 years of research in leading institutions such as Harvard, Oxford and NASA. The blue light properties of the AYO device conform to the referent values established by one of the most extensively clinically researched blue light therapy devices, namely the Philips GoLite BLU. Notably, the AYO device surpasses this reference lightbox in key aspects:

  1. Significantly Reduced Glare: AYO boasts up to 6 times less glare, minimising eye annoyance and ensuring a comfortable user experience.
  2. Portability and Ease of Use: AYO is designed for on-the-go use, allowing users to seamlessly incorporate light therapy into their daily routines.

Blue light therapy has a well-established track record of providing a range of benefits, including improvements in sleep quality, cognitive performance, mood enhancement, and circadian rhythm regulation when appropriately timed exposure is administered. These benefits are extensively documented in various research publications.

AYO’s approach to Circadian Health is essential for keeping our circadian rhythms in synchrony with the 24-hour day & night cycle. The human body functions based on finely synchronised biological processes. Desynchronisation between social and biological time constitute a regular challenge for many people nowadays. As a result, serious consequences for sleep, wellbeing and health can follow. Daily provision of timed light and dark exposure with additional “time cues” to the circadian rhythm will help maintain restorative sleep, wellbeing and health.”

    Research

Novalogy has been a prominent technology provider in the field of circadian light therapy since 2018. The flagship product, the AYO wearable light therapy device, has become a go-to solution and primary light intervention in numerous research studies. With advanced research features such as real-time compliance tracking and sham capabilities, AYO has been at the forefront of research in this domain.

The AYO device is currently taking part in more than 15 clinical studies with leading institutions worldwide in addition to numerous commercial pilots with businesses in the private and public markets. The first two clinical studies are already finalised, showing AYO to be effective in decreasing sleep problems, improving sleep quality and increasing performance.

    Example One

University of Reykjavik (in collaboration with Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai) – a finalised study. The results indicate that the circadian stimulating light glasses were effective in decreasing sleep problems and increasing subjective sleep quality. The leading researcher was Prof. Heiddis B Valdimarsdottir and you can access the abstract of this study here

    Example Two

US Department of Defence, Navy personnel – study focused on improving sleep and managing fatigue in the Navy submarine personnel.

The study has been finalised with results showing that over the 14-day experimental period, Sailors wearing AYO received a greater amount of sleep and more efficient sleep than Sailors in the control group; Sailors wearing AYO also reported lower levels of sleepiness and presented with higher scores of projected performance effectiveness. The abstract of this study is provided as a separate document.

The leading researcher was Sarah Chabal, and you can access the abstract of this study here
